- Bakers chocolate
THE ORIGIN STORY
This single origin, organically grown coffee presents notes of bakers chocolate and vanilla and makes an excellent espresso.
KSU Arinagata has worked hard to improve the livelihoods of Indonesian farmers through the cooperative model. Arinagata is organic and Fairtrade certified and provides technical assistance and training for their farmer members. The Gayonese people, an indigenous group that lives in this region and has grown coffee for many generations, produce a collection of different coffee varieties on small farms, each averaging about 1.5 hectares in size. The growers here rely almost entirely on the sale of coffee for their household income, and depend on the rich soil and organic farming to protect and support their livelihoods.
This coffee was decaffeinated using the Swiss Water Process. During this process, green coffee is pre-soaked in water to expand the beans for caffeine extraction. The beans are then introduced to a solution concentrated with coffee solubles that extract the caffeine without extracting the coffees particular flavor.
