THE ORIGIN STORY
This coffee has a silky body with notes of chocolate and dried apricot. This Burundi offering comes to us from Cafe Imports, whom sourced this coffee from the Bwayi Washing Station in the town of Matongo. Around 4,000 producers deliver their coffees to this washing station, where it is then sorted and processed. Washing stations are the main point of purchase for coffees in this country, as the typical coffee farmer does not have enough space or possess the resources to process the coffee themselves. On average, farmers here own less than half a hectare of land, and also grow crops like yams and cassava in addition to coffee.
