THE ORIGIN STORYThis single origin, organically grown coffee presents notes of chocolate and vanilla and makes an excellent espresso.
This offering comes from COCAFCAL, a Fairtrade certified cooperative of smallholder farmers located in the city of Las Capucas in Northwest Honduras. The organization was founded in 1999 and became fully organic and Fairtrade in 2009. In 2016, COCAFCAL received the Fairtrade award for 'Small Producer Organization of the Year - Latin America' for its work in improving the living conditions of the cooperative members and their 12 communities.
This coffee was decaffeinated using the Swiss Water Process. During this process, green coffee is pre-soaked in water to expand the beans for caffeine extraction. The beans are then introduced to a solution concentrated with coffee solubles that extract the caffeine without extracting the coffees particular flavor.
