THE ORIGIN STORY
The Chiapas region, close to the Guatemala border and Huehuetenango, meets all the criteria for producing great quality coffee. It has heirloom coffee varieties (Bourbon, Typica), great altitude (1200–1750masl), and passionate coffee growers who want to produce high-quality lots.
The women's association for Triunfo Verde Co-op has 51 members who have come together in order to collectively face some of the issues that affect women farmers in Mexico, including gender-based domestic violence, legal obstacles to obtaining land ownership, limited opportunities to diversify the family income, fewer educational opportunities, and economic dependence on men.
The farms of Triunfo Verde Cooperative are located in the buffer zone of El Triunfo Biosphere Reserve, which is in the highlands of the Sierra Madre. It is one of the most diverse forest reserve areas in the world and contains Mesoamerica's largest cloud forest, as well as a protected natural environment for thousands of plant and animal species. All of the coffee produced here is shade-grown.
This organically grown, women produced coffee has notes of milk chocolate and golden raisin, with a delightfully creamy finish.
